Jolene Curry - JLN President As we enter the 26th year of service in Norman, we are poised, once again, to achieve great things.
The Junior League of Norman has a rich history of providing community service and advocacy for people. Though our projects and activities have changed, the one thing that has remained is our tremendous talent base. The Junior Leagues across the world are primarily recognized as a group of talented, resourceful women who get things accomplished! Our League is no different, and when I look at the phenomenal women that are joining each year, I am inspired and encouraged.
Our mission is key to our every move, and it is a 3-pronged mission. First, we aim to develop the potential of women. Every single year, I hear someone say, “I honestly didn’t know I could do that!” We strive to offer women the chance to succeed, stretch and grow. Secondly, we improve communities. Looking around Norman, you’ll see the handiwork of the League in our signature project, Baby Steps, at the Sam Noble Museum, in our work with Neighborhood Centers and Reading is Fundamental. Finally, we encourage volunteering in other areas. Many members, and former members can be found working at and running other non profits in Norman.
The Association of Junior Leagues International prides itself on the outstanding training it offers to members. It is this training that women receive in the League that allows them to contribute to our community in invaluable ways. We are enormously grateful to the community for supporting our League, and giving us the opportunity to serve.
